Ellen Charlene Ferguson

March 19, 1949 — May 7, 2014

Ellen Charlene Ferguson, 65, born in Valley Station, Kentucky, on March 19, 1949, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 7, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by her two sons, David Ferguson and Jon Ferguson, David’s wife, Christine, five grandchildren, Rebekah, Emily, Justin, Sarah, and Jack, her mother, Nellie Matthews, one sister, Linda Waller, and two brothers, Fielden Laslie and Alan Laslie. Charlene was an ordained minister with Rhema Ministerial Association International, and helped her husband, James Ferguson, pastor a church in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, and pioneer and pastor a church in Richmond, Virginia. During her final years on this earth, she helped Pastor Alfonso and Sheila Vargas at Church on the Hill in Hondo, Texas. Many people in New Mexico, Virginia, and Texas, were touched by her life and ministry. She was a woman of God who loved her Lord and her family – both her natural and church families. Her work on this earth will be long remembered and will reap many benefits beyond her passing. We will greatly miss our beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend who was a true warrior in the Kingdom of God, but all that now remains is the rejoicing that Charlene has received her reward. A graveside service was held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Fort Sumner Cemetery with Sister Anna Teeter-Gentile officiating. All arrangements were directed by Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM. (575) 355-2311.
