A rosary for Augustine J. Casaus Jr., 68 of Ojo Encino, NM will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 am Thursday, May 22, 2014 with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Fort Sumner, NM. Pallbearers will include Phill Casaus, Paul Casaus, Anthony Casaus, Michael Casaus, Martin Anthony Blea, and Richard Sena. Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. Augustine passed away at his home in Ojo Encino on Sunday, May 18, 2014 following a sudden illness. He was born December 20, 1945 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Juan Augustine Casaus Sr. and the former Eliza Gauna. He was reared and attended schools in Fort Sumner. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from October 3, 1967 to May 22, 1969 with a one year tour of duty in Vietnam. He worked in the building construction business for many years, he also worked for a lumber products company in Albuquerque. Augustine enjoyed woodworking and auto mechanics. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Augustine is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Corrina Casaus of the family home in Ojo Encino, NM, two sons Carlos Augustine Casaus III of Ojo Encino, Carl P. Casaus and his wife Monique of Bloomfield, NM, a daughter Augusta Casaus of Ojo Encino, two grandsons Tristan Casaus and Anthony Gallegos both of Bloomfield. Also surviving are five siblings, two sisters Rebecca Blea and husband Martin of Amarillo, TX, Tina Archuleta and husband Joe of Albuquerque, three brothers Felix Casaus and his wife Anna of Belen, NM, Procopio Casaus of Roswell, and Albert Casaus and his wife Ann of the U.S.A., along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM. (575) 355-2311.
