Mark Anthony Baca, age 51 passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2014. Anthony as he was affectionately known was born on November 14, 1962 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Joe Maes and Ernestine Baca. He was reared and attended schools graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1980. Anthony worked as a cook and dishwasher in various restaurants in Santa Rosa. He was also a handyman and jack of all trades. He enjoyed fishing, spearing, singing, dancing, woodwork, crafts, arrowhead hunting and was a music artist and played in the band “Animo” and he loved volunteering with anything that needed to be done. He is preceded in death by his mother Ernestina Baca, his Maternal grandparents Refugito and Ambrosio Garcia, his paternal grandparents Amelia and Arsenio Baca. Survivors include his children, Christopher Baca and Savana Salas of Santa Rosa, Ernestina Baca of Santa Rosa, Matthew Baca and Laticia Aragon of Santa Rosa, Joaquin Gallegos and Ashley of Santa Rosa, Mark Salazar of Albuquerque and Devin Chavez of Santa Rosa, his father Joe Maes, and his siblings, two sisters Becky Maes of Santa Rosa, Esther Medoza and husband Angel of San Antonio, TX, and three brothers, Gilbert Baca, Alex Baca, and Johnny Baca all of Albuquerque, his nephews and nieces, Keith Maes and Lea Valdez of Las Vegas, NM, Steven Maes of Las Vegas, NM, Melissa Mendoza of San Antonio, TX, Monica Rhode and husband Shane of Florida and Michelle Mendoza of San Antonio, TX. Also surviving are his Aunts, Magdalena Lucero and husband Manuel, Anna Anaya and husband Victor, Susie Chavez and husband Albert all of Santa Rosa, 9 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Rosary services will be held on Sunday, June 1, at 6:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 2, at 10:00 also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Thomas Kayammakal officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at La Morada Cemetery where Anthony’s mother is buried. Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandkids, Alexis Baca, Christopher Baca, Jr., Jose Saiz, Jace Apodaca, Jarius Apodaca, Jarric Apodaca, Devin Chavez, Khloe Gallegos and Joaquin Gallegos.
