Graveside services for Mrs. Jessie Nielsen, 87 of Clovis, New Mexico will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, New Mexico with Rev. Clyde Fulfer officiating. Pallbearers will include Lonnie Wright, Joey Wright, Ken Jones, Mary Ann Jones, and Deena Qualls. Mrs. Nielsen passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center following an illness. She was born December 3, 1926 in Lockney, Texas to the home of Arthur McDonald Jones and the former Ellen Millie Jane Allin. She grew up in California and attended school in Fresno. She married Walter "Sonny" Nielsen in California. Jessie worked for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She made her home in California until moving to Fort Sumner in 1987 and later to Clovis in 2005. While living in Fort Sumner she attended First United Methodist Church. Jessie enjoyed gathering her family genealogy, arts and crafts, sewing, painting, and loved to collect nick-knacks. Jessie is preceded in death by her husband Walter "Sonny" Nielsen, her parents, a niece raised as a daughter Debbie Smith, two brothers Cliff Jones and Perry Jones, and four sisters Viola Krigbaum, Frances Groff, Edna Holland, and Jewel Jones. Survivors include a sister Bonita Wright of Moriarty, NM, a brother and sister-in-law Art and Joyce Jones of Clovis, also surviving are several cousins including Reva Turmbull of Manteca, CA and many nieces and nephews. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM. (575) 355-2311.
