Marcella Velasquez Romero

Marcella M. Romero, age 58, passed away peacefully on January 3, at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque with her family by her side. Marcella was born on July 24, 1956 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Jesus J. and Eralda (Rivera) Velasquez. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. She married Jose Daniel Romero in 1987 in Santa Rosa. Marcella worked as a waitress in several restaurants and also as a Desk Clerk at the Best Western Adobe Inn. She enjoyed crocheting, watching TV, Baking and was always donating her famous tortillas for fundraisers, but most of all she enjoyed playing with her grandson Devin. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jesus Velasquez, Jr., her brother Frank Marquez and her Uncle Pete Velasquez. Survivors include her husband Dan Romero of the family home in Santa Rosa, her daughters Geraldine Romero, Danielle Romero and Matthew Hoehne all of Santa Rosa, her grandson Devin Gallegos. Also surviving are numerous brothers, a special Aunt Juanita Sandoval of Dilia, her Aunts Mary Salas and Erlinda Rivera both of Albuquerque along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, January 8, at 6:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 9, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Sotero A. Officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Manuel Velasquez, Anthony Velasquez, Dennis Chavez, Ernie Ortega, Alex Velasquez and Matthew Hoehne.
