Stephanie Collaso-Sena, 30 of Fort Sumner passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at University of New Mexico Hospital following a short illness. A rosary will be recited at 6pm Sunday, January 11, 2015 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, January 12, 2015 from the church with Father Paul Nakumbi officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jose Ontineros, Ruben Lucero, Dusty Minton, Nathaniel Minton, Jason Saiz, Matt Ray, Roger Gutierrez, Gito Crawford, and Ismael Campos. Honorary bearers will be all her family, friends, the medical staff at UNMH Neuroscience Unit, the staff at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital, Doctor Kenneth Smith and Josh Michaels. Stephanie was born April 24, 1984 in Pecos, Texas the daughter of Manuel and Velma (Mendoza) Collaso. She grew up in Monahans, Texas, her family moved to Fort Sumner in 1994 where she attended school, graduating from Fort Sumner High School in 2003. While in school she participated in band, and sang in many of the school talent shows. Stephanie married Eugene Sena on July 18, 2009 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Stephanie worked as a florist part time for several years at Fort Sumner Florist, and also worked at Sunnyside Day Care Center in Fort Sumner. She was a homemaker, wife and mom. According to her family Stephanie had many talents, dancing, singing, crafting, making floral decorations. She was a woman of God and always put her family first. She enjoyed camping trips with her husband and daughter. Every day after school she picked up Nadia and they visited Dariland for an ice cream cone. Stephanie loved the rain and Halloween was her favorite holiday. She had a heart of gold like no other, a beautiful spirit and smile that would melt all your pain away. She was a fighter, she beat her cancer and fought until the very end. She will forever remain in her families heart. Stephanie is preceded in death by her mom, Velma Collaso on January 30, 2014, and her father Manuel Collaso on December 15, 2012, her maternal grandfather Marcos Mendoza Sr, and an uncle Benji Mendoza. Survivors include her husband Eugene Sena, daughter Nadia Noelle Sena (age 9) both of the family home in Fort Sumner, a brother Adrian Collaso of Fort Sumner, eight sisters Melissa (Bucky) Minton of Fort Sumner, NM, Crystal (Dustin Minton) Collaso of Edgewood, NM, Petra Herrera of El Paso, TX, Yolanda Rubio of San Francisco, CA, Marisela Hernandez of Bell, CA, Rosalma Hernandez of Placentia, CA, Norma Amezola of Long Beach, CA, and Sonya Villegas of Bell, CA. Also surviving is her maternal grandmother Georgia Mendoza of Pecos, Texas and her mother and father in law Gene and Fran Sena of Fort Sumner, along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
