Dana L. Moyer

Dana L. Moyer, 57 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his home in the Fort Sumner valley. He was born April 24, 1957 in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Loyal and Vaudie (Curry) Moyer. Dana grew up in Tucumcari, he attended school in Tucumcari, and Raton before moving to Fort Sumner in 1971. He graduated from Fort Sumner High School in 1975. While in high school he participated in football, basketball and track. He began working for the family business, Moyer Masonary Construction at the age of 13. He was a licensed contractor and worked most of his life in the construction business. While working on a job in Del Rio, Texas he met Brenda Perkins. Dana married Brenda on September 9, 2000 in Del Rio, Texas. For the past seven years Dana operated DLM Construction Company and for the past five years was also employed by the Sweet family at the Old Fort Museum. Dana was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his friends, watching game shows and westerns on TV, hunting, bowling and spending time with his friends. Dana is preceded in death by his parents Loyal and Vaudie Moyer. He will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Brenda Moyer of the home in Fort Sumner, two sons Jeremiah (Vickie) Moyer of Taos, NM, and Shawn Perkins of Artesia, NM, three daughters Kristen (Carlos) Rivera of Taos, Nikki (Mike) Moyer of Taos, and Suzanne Perkins of Fort Sumner; two brothers Art (Janis) Moyer, and Bryce (Iva) Moyer both of Fort Sumner, ten grandchildren, Julianne Moyer, Trent Moyer, Adrian Alvarez, Ryan Alvarez, Marika Moyer, Alyse Vigil, Alexis Moyer, Carly Moyer, Carlos Rivera, and expecting soon baby boy Rivera. Also surviving at a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation hours will be Friday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, January 24, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner, NM with Rev. John Russo officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Ingram, Timmy Sweet, Rusty Brady, Bob Hunt, Brent Moyer, Dax Moyer, Marco Moyer, Will Mataya, and Charlie West. Honorary bearers will include Don Sweet, Ruben Lucero, Charlie Vaughan, Will Stanton, Jon Cortese, Don Ben Aragon, Patrick Archuleta, all his many friends, co-workers and relatives.
