Marcelino Gutierrez, age 87, passed away suddenly on January 23, at the Guadalupe County Hospital. Marcelino was born on October 10, 1927 in Puerto De Luna, NM to the home of Florencio and Lucinda (Salazar) Gutierrez. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. He married Lucia Aragon on May 5, 1947. He was a lifelong cattle rancher in the Santa Rosa area. He enjoyed keeping busy by working at his ranch and tending to his animals. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family. Marcelino is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucia, his son Peter Gutierrez, his daughter Lucinda Gutierrez, brothers, Matias Gutierrez and Sylviano Gutierrez and his sister Arcenia Maestas. Survivors include his daughters, Cecilia Gore and husband Steve of Carrizozo, NM and Louella Gutierrez of Santa Rosa, his grandsons, Kevin Gore and wife Shailin and Gene Gore, his great granddaughter Adalynn. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Florencio Gutierrez and wife Oma of Albuquerque, Fermin Gutierrez and wife Mary Ann of Santa Rosa, Adelina Padilla and husband Joe of Amarillo, TX, Angelina Montano of Amarillo, TX, Frances Hernandez and husband Isidro of Amarillo, TX Dulcinea Dunahan of California and Bertha Baca and husband Benji of Vaughn, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. All services for Mr. Gutierrez have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
