Michael T. Anaya, 54 of Vaughn, NM passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa. Michael was born November 21, 1960 in Vaughn to the home of Pedro Nolasco "Nolly" and Erma Jane (Gallegos) Anaya. He grew up in Vaughn where he attended school. He participated in football, basketball, and track while in high school. Following high school Michael worked for three years in the oil fields in Oklahoma. He returned to Vaughn and worked in the maintenance department for Guadalupe County Hospital, he also worked for G-Force Security in Santa Rosa. He worked for the NM Department of Transportation Vaughn Patrol for 15 years before going to work on road construction and as a truck driver. He worked for the Town of Vaughn, and was a maintenance worker for the Vaughn Housing. He returned to work at the NMDOT in Vaughn two years ago. He enjoyed attending the annual NMDOT Road-eo competition. Michael married Anna Rael on July 6, 1985 in Vaughn. Michael enjoyed cruising his motorcycle, loved spending time with his family especially his "poops" granddaughter Aubrianna. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, his wife Anna Rael of Vaughn, two daughters Janee Anaya of Vaughn, Diondra (Brian Chavez) Anaya of Santa Rosa, granddaughter Aubrianna Chavez of Santa Rosa, his mother Jane Anaya of Vaughn, four sisters Tresy Garduno and husband J.R. of Sagus, CA, Cynthia Madrid and husband Joe of Fort Stockton, TX, Marie Anaya and husband John of Clovis, Jessica Howe and husband Lupe of Vaughn, two brothers Pete Anaya of Vaughn, and Celso Anaya and wife Wanda of Friona, TX. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, football buddy Emily Anaya, other relatives and many friends and co-workers. Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. A rosary will be recited at 10am Monday, February 16, 2015 followed by the funeral Mass with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Honorary bearers will include Pete Anaya, Celso Anaya, Brian Chavez, Aubrianna Chavez, all his sisters, nieces, nephews, and co-workers at NMDOT.
