Carolina Delicia Castillo

Carolina D. Castillo, 81 a longtime Vaughn, NM resident passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 in Roswell, NM following an illness. She was born September 29, 1933 in El Aguilar, NM to the home of Vidal and Andrellita (Gomez) Roybal. She grew up in Anton Chico where she attended school. Carolina married Pedro Castillo in 1946 at Anton Chico. They made their home in Vaughn in 1967. Carolina was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn and attended St. John's Catholic Church in Roswell. She enjoyed crocheting, trips to Laughlin, NV, and playing Bingo. Carolina is preceded in death by her parents, husband Pedro Castillo in 1993, two sons Roger Castillo in 1990 and Lorenzo Castillo in 2005, a daughter Mary Ann Ulibarri in 1998, a granddaughter Petrina Castillo, great-grandson Jesus Palomino, and a brother Salomon Pacheco. Survivors include eleven children, five sons Adino Roybal and wife Donna of Vaughn, Erminio Castillo and wife Jane of Las Vegas, NM, Pete "Smiley" Castillo and wife Vicky of Vaughn, Antonio Castillo and wife Loretta of Vaughn, Albert Castillo and wife Irma of Vaughn, six daughters, Virginia Gutierrez of Roswell, Sylvia Sisneros and husband Manuel of Roswell, Cari Thieman and husband Ray of Roswell, Christina Roybal of Fort Sumner, Annabelle Marquez of La Junta, CO, and Eva Owens and husband Thomas of Vaughn. Also surviving are three grandchildren she raised Adino "BoBo" Castillo of Roswell, Vanessa Castillo of Fort Sumner, and Desiree Castillo of Vaughn, a special niece Elvira Pacheco of Roswell, two brothers Benito Roybal of Anton Chico and Alfredo Roybal and wife Orphela of Vaughn along with 34 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Visitation hours will begin at 5pm Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church and Friday from 9am until Mass time. A rosary will be recited at 6pm Thursday, February 26, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn. Mass will be celebrated at 10am Friday, February 27, 2015, burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Pallbearers will include Adino Roybal II, Roger Castillo Jr, Adino Castillo, Lee Castillo, Antonio Castillo II, Johnny Sisneros, Derrick Castillo, Amen Gonzales, Matthew Owens, Adino Castillo II, Cruz Castillo, Geesta Dennison, Diego Pacheco, Geno Castillo, Robert Castillo, Louie Castillo, Lorenzo Castillo, Eric Gutierrez, and Tony Gauna.
