Services for Laverne Morris will be Friday, July 17, 2015 at 10am at the House, NM Cemetery with Rev. Sherman Martin officiating. Pallbearers will include Ricky Morris, Zane Morris, Ronny Morris, Terry Carpenter, Lou Hendricks, and Wayne Harris. Honorary bearers will include Avery Morris, Maddox Morris, Danny Hendricks, and Sidney Hendricks. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 1pm to 6pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM. Clarice Laverne Morris, age 94 of House, NM passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 3, 1921 at the home of her parents Cline and Irene (Morrow) Carpenter in House, NM. She attended House Elementary and House High School. Laverne married Spence E. Morris on September 3, 1938 in Tucumcari, NM they made their home at House where Laverne raised her children and they farmed. Laverne was a Methodist. She cooked for House Schools and the House Senior Center. She was a talented seamstress and she made custom window drapes for many years. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, and cooking. Laverne was preceded in death by her husband Spence E. Morris in 2013, a daughter Nancy E. Morris in 2010, son Robby Z. Morris in 1974, her parents, a sister Ruby Chapline, and a brother Willard Carpenter. Survivors include 3 daughters, Clarice Hendricks (Lewis) of Kalispell, Montana, Sue Morris of Midland, TX, Kathy O'Bryant of Las Vegas, NV, two sons Ricky Morris (Sara) of Clovis, and Ronny Morris of House, a sister Lorayne Hall of Clovis and a brother Terry Carpenter (Cissy) of Clovis. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM.
