Rosary services for Mrs. Josie Alirez will be held on Saturday, November 7, at 10:00 AM from St. Teresa Catholic Church in Corona with Mass of Christian Burial to follow, Father Mike Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Corona Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Norbert Chavez, Freddie Montano, Raymond Lueras, Jr., Thomas Chavez, Patrick Palomarez and Victor Gallegos. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Josie passed away on November 5, at her residence in Corona following an illness. She was born on August 20, 1943 in Tecolote, NM to the home of Romelio and Romanita (Aragon) Chavez. She was reared and attended schools in Corona. Josie married Mike Alirez on November 24, 1962 in Corona. She worked as a cook for the Corona Public Schools until her retirement in 2003. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, her son Michael, great grandson, Baby Michael Alirez and her brother Henry Chavez. Survivors include her daughters, Monica Zook and husband Robert of Corona, Yvonne Alirez of Belen, Becky Wetzel and husband Robert of Amarillo, TX, her brothers and sisters, Ralph Chavez and Dickie of Albuquerque, Luciano Chavez of Albuquerque, Danny Chavez of Corona, Marcella Chavez of Corona, Della Gonzalez and Joe of Santa Rosa, Grace Warfield of Santa Rosa, Rose Lueras and Raymond of Carrizozo, Alvarita Smith of Vernal, UT and Kathy Palomarez and Gabriel of Corona. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
