Kathleen “Kathie” Alice Fisher, 64 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at University of NM Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Kathie was born December 30, 1951 in Belen, NM the daughter of Robert Wayne and Emily Alice (Woodmansee) Jensen. Kathie attended schools at Silver City and Santa Fe. She graduated from Santa Fe high school Kathie married Daniel Fisher on October 21, 1978 in Juarez, Mexico. They made their home in Fort Sumner in 1984. Kathie worked for several years as a teller at Citizen’s Bank. Kathie loved to sew. She sewed for Santa Fe Downs and Albuquerque Downs horse race track for many years creating the Winner's Circle blankets and many other garments. She loved spending time with family and friends but would not miss an opportunity to spend time with her grand kids. If Kathie was not with family you could find her at the casino playing slot machines and of course people watching. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fort Sumner. Kathie is preceded in death by her mother Alice Jensen, and a brother David Jensen. Survivors include Dan Fisher, her husband of 37 years of Fort Sumner, her father Robert Jensen and a sister Cindy and husband John Delph all of Silver City, two sons Robert and wife Tiff Fisher and their children Trinity, Liam, and Lennon Fisher; and Shawn Fisher and his children Joshua and Brooklyn Fisher all of Albuquerque. A memorial service will be held at the Fort Sumner Community House, U.S. 84 and Baker Street, Fort Sumner, NM on Saturday July 30, 2016 at 2pm. Her sons, Bobby and Shawn Fisher will officiate the services. A dinner reception will follow the service. Cremation has taken place.
