Elicia S. Lopez

Elicia S. Lopez, 78 of Clovis, NM passed away at her home Sunday evening, October 9, 2016. Her family was at her bedside. Elicia was born May 9, 1938 in Encino, NM, one of nine children born to the home of Sotero and Gomesinda (Lopez) Saiz. She was reared in Encino and Fort Sumner. She married Florentino Lopez in 1954 at Fort Sumner. They were the parents of 11 children. The family made their home in Clovis in 1962. Elicia worked for many years at Cannon Air Force Base Housekeeping, she retired in 1994. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis and V.F.W. Post 3015 Ladies Auxiliary. Elicia enjoyed spending time with her large family, dancing, music, and playing BINGO. Elicia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Florentino Lopez, two sons Raul Lopez in 1956, and Leo Lopez in 2008, two brothers Roman Saiz, and Samuel Saiz, and three sisters Eloida Sandoval, Celina Villa, and Della Apodaca. She is survived by her loving family, six daughters Irene Chavez of Clovis, Marcella Lopez of Albuquerque, Juana Martinez of Clovis, Janice Gavlik of Colorado Springs, CO, Treva Lopez of Albuquerque, Cindy Hernandez and husband Gomer of Gainesville, TX, three sons Rafael Lopez and wife Norma of Carlsbad, Phillip Lopez and wife Nancy of Clovis, and Juan (NoNo) Lopez and wife Gloria of Lubbock, TX. Also surviving are three sisters Frutosa Madrid and Antonia Sena of Fort Sumner and Rosa Sena of Clovis, along with 29 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation hours will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis; a second rosary followed by the funeral Mass will begin at 10am Thursday, October 13, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, with her nephew Father Sotero A. Sena as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Fort Sumner. Pallbearers will include Ronnie Lopez, Tino Lopez, Anthony Apodaca, Fernando Lopez, Damien Sena, Joel Salinas, and Thomas Villa.
