Isabel M. Baca, age 72, passed away October 11, 2000 in Santa Rosa, NM following an illness. She was born November 5, 1927 in Abeytas, NM to the home of Santiago and Andrea (Sanchez) Abeyta. She was reared and attended schools in Abeyta and Belen, NM. Isabel Married Herman Baca in 1957 in Belen. They made their home in Santa Rosa in 1962. Isabel was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and Minister of the Cup. She was actively involved in the 50's Plus Club; she served in the St. Joseph Guild during the time that St. Rose School was open and she was a member of the Homemakers Extension Club. Isabel loved taking care of her family and she enjoyed her afternoon and evening walks around Santa Rosa. Isabel is preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Mary. Survivors include her husband, Herman of the family home in Santa Rosa, three daughters, Patricia Camell and husband Dennis of Louisville, CO, Carmen Baca of Aurora, CO, Yvonne Maestas and husband Steve of Peoria, AZ; one son Herman David Baca and his wife Anna of Santa Teresa, NM; her grandchildren, Christina, Deanna, Kathryn, and Ashley Camell, Joey Flores, Jesse Flores, James Stromeier, Amanda Strohmeier, and Andrea Baca, six sisters, Sister Angelina Abeyta of Albuquerque, Manuelita Sanchez and husband Charlie of Mesa, AZ, Gregorita Esquibel of Albuquerque, Angelina Trujillo and husband Sesario of Belen, Sister Dolores Abeyta of Grand Rapids, MI, and Dolores Duran and husband Benji of Lubbock, TX, two brothers Arturo Abeyta of Las Vegas, NM and Ruben Abeyta and wife Pauline of Las Cruces. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday evening at 7pm from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM with Deacon Arsenio Sanchez leading the prayer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on 10am Friday at St. Rose of Lima Parish with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S. Third Street, Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
