Renee Rosalie Castillo

Renee Castillo, age 40, of Vaughn, NM passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 as a result of an automobile accident in Torrance County. Renee was born on August 7, 1976 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Baltazar and Lillian (Martinez) Romo. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1994. She married Robert Castillo on July 5, 1997 in Vaughn. Renee was currently working as a Communications Specialist for the Vaughn Police Department. She was an active volunteer for the City of Vaughn Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services and was currently serving on the Vaughn School Board. Renee loved taking care of kids, especially the neighborhood kids; she loved music, exercising and 4 wheeling. She was always willing to help others and would put everyone's needs before hers. Renee was a much loved wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter and friend and will truly be missed. She is preceded in death by her Uncle Tommy Martinez, Jr and her grandparents Baltazar and Diane Romo. Survivors include her husband Robert Castillo, her children Robert Castillo III and Anna Justene Castillo all of the family home in Vaughn, her mother Lillian Romo of Santa Rosa, her father Baltazar Romo and wife Lisa of Capitan, NM, her grandparents Tommy and Josie Martinez of Santa Rosa and Ruby Harbaugh of Oceanside, CA, her brothers and sisters, Baltazar Romo IV of Capitan, Dericke Romo of Las Vegas, NV, Adriana Hidalgo of Ruidoso and Vincent Madrid of Fairbanks, Alaska, her Aunts Alyson Martinez of Lubbock, TX Camilla Muniz and husband Rick of Santa Rosa and Barbara Rendon and husband Paul of Eden, TX, mother and father in law Robert and Jane Castillo of Las Vegas, NM sisters in law, Juanita Marquez and husband Elias and Katherine Castillo all of Las Vegas, NM as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Cremation will take place, a rosary will be recited at 6pm Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. The funeral Mass will be held at 10am Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. Mary's Parish, with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Honorary bearers will include Matthew Owens, Tara Martinez, Paul Rendon, Adino Castillo, Cruz Castillo, Thomas Owens, and Baltazar Romo IV.
