Mary Alice Montano

Mary Alice Montano 59, of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas following a sudden illness. She was born July 13, 1957 in Fort Sumner, NM the daughter of Ernesto Ramon and Alice (Gonzales) Aragon. She grew up and attended schools in Pojoaque and Fort Sumner. She married Kenneth Montano in State Line, Texas. She worked for the Pecos Valley Care Center for several years as a cook. Mary Alice was a member of The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner. She enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to 70's music and Spanish music. She is preceded in death by her father Ernesto Aragon, mother Alice Keever, step father Art Keever, and a brother Richard Aragon. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Montano of Vaughn, two children, a son David Chavez of Fort Sumner and a daughter Kenneta Kay Montano of Portales. Also surviving are five brothers Sonny Aragon, Nick Aragon, Bobby Aragon, Jimmy Aragon, J.B. Aragon, three sisters Micky Jones, Donna Morgan, and Gina Foster. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2017 at The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner with Sister Anna Teeter-Gentile officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
