Pauline Barela

Pauline Barela, 72 a longtime Clovis, NM resident died Monday, August 23, 1999 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis following an long illness. Mrs. Barela was born May 18, 1927 in Puerto De Luna to the home of Reyes Sanchez and Cleotilde Zamora Sanchez. She married Damasio Barela on July 2, 1944 in Clovis, New Mexico. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis and a member of Clovis Seniors Center. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Damasio Barela of the home in Clovis; three daughters Mary Ann and husband Randy Byars, Maria Barela, and Sandra and husband Mike Collier all of Clovis. Also surviving are 19 Grandchildren, 29 Great-grandchildren, and four Great-Grandchildren. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 1999 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 1999 with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Joe Sanchez, Johnny Salazar, Shane Sanchez, George Salazar, Larry Barela, Mike Collier, John Collier, Randy Byars, Joe Garcia, Eddie Reyna, and Margarito Lopez. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
