Yvonne Morton, 60 of Clovis, NM died Friday, July 14, 2000 at Sunbridge Golden Age Nursing Home following an extended illness. Yvonne was born July 17, 1939 in Fort Sumner to the home of John Ed Bailey and the former Ola Lee Bailey. She attended school at Fort Sumner Public School, Sandia View Academy in Albuquerque. She worked as a teacher, day care provider and a homemaker. Yvonne married Donald L. Morton on January 26, 1962 at Mineral Wells, TX. They made their home in Clovis in 1984. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents John Ed Bailey in 1983 and Ola Lee Bailey in 1991. Yvonne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed dearly by her family. Survivors include her husband Donald L. Morton of Clovis; three daughters Letha Ayn Howell of Clovis; Leah Johnson and husband Jason of Clovis; Devonna Phillips and husband Mark of Edwards A.F.B., California; one son Derrick Morton and wife julie of Norman, Oklahoma; one brother Ralph Bailey and his wife Dorothy of Keene, Texas; three sisters Geraldine Phillips and husband Frank of Clovis, NM; Olivene Hoover and husband Dale of Portland, Tenn; Jonnie Lea and huband David of Clarksville, Tenn.; other survivors include five grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and many friends. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. (M.S.T.), Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at Fort Sumner Cemetery, Fort Sumner, New Mexico. The family prefers memorials in Yvonne’s name to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association; Box 180; Fort Sumner, New Mexico 88119. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home 804 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
