Mabel Sarah Bragg

Mabel Sarah Bragg, 103 of Fort Sumner, NM died Wednesday, October 02, 2002 in the Pecos Valley Care Center. Mabel was born June 28, 1899 in Middletown, Iowa to the home of William Tschoepe and the former Jessie Smalley. She moved with her family to a claim in Quay County near Ima, NM in 1906. She attended and later taught school at Ima. Mabel married Aurel B. Bragg on September 26, 1917 at Ima, NM. They ranched and farmed in Colorado from 1948 to 1966 before moving to the Fort Sumner valley in 1966. While living in Colorado Mabel served as a 4–H Leader. She was a member of Bethany Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. Mabel made her home at the Pecos Valley Care Center in 1995. Mabel was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Aurel B. Bragg in 1975; two sons Pearl B. Bragg in 1972 and Erda Lewis Bragg in 1932. Survivors include two sons Cecil A. Bragg of Stella, Missouri and Dale B. Bragg and wife Virgie of La Mirada, CA; also surviving are ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 Great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 5, 2002 from the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Coy Brewer,pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Bragg family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Tommy Bragg, Mike Bragg, Gale Hartman, Ricky Bragg, Randy Bragg, and Klint Guinn. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
