Benjamin Franklin Pittman

Benjamin Franklin Pittman, 75 a resident of Fort Sumner since 1988 died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Pecos Valley Care Center in Fort Sumner. Ben was born March 24, 1927 in Cox City, Oklahoma the son of William M. Pittman and the former Mae Audrey. He was reared at Melrose, Roswell, and the Clovis area. Ben attended school at Melrose. He married Pauline Powers on May 28, 1946 in Portales, NM. Ben worked for many years on the C A Bar Ranch at Bingham, NM. He also was a handyman, carpenter, and a good friend. Ben and Pauline made their home in Fort Sumner in 1988. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Pauline Pittman of Fort Sumner; two sons Larry A. Pittman and wife Dale of Aztec, NM; Travis D. Pittman and wife Pam of Roswell, NM; two sisters Peggy Dawn Hatcher and husband D.D. of Conchas, NM; Belle Clifton of Belen, NM; six grandchildren Melissa Pittman of Waco, TX; Noel Elizabeth Necaise and husband Tom of Menifee, CA; Rebecca L. Pittman of Roswell, NM; Robin Sean Pittman and wife Bernadette of Oklahoma City, OK; Timothy M. Pittman and wife Kathy of Loves Park, IL; Kyle L. Pittman and wife Christy of Stockbridge, GA; four great-grandchildren Austin Nathaniel Pittman of Loves Park, IL; Larry Richard Necaise of Menifee, CA; Maggie Pittman of Oklahoma City, OK; and Daniel Burrows of Anchorage, Alaska. Other survivors include other family members and many good friends. A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 4, 2002 at the Valley Community House in Fort Sumner, NM with Eugene Jaquez of Clovis, NM officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will include Sean Pittman, Tim Pittman, Kyle Pittman, Bill Pittman, Roger Hatcher, Tom Necaise, and Aaron Wayne Clifton. Memorials are preferred to the Ben Pittman Trust, c/o Pecos Valley Care Center, Fort Sumner, New Mexico 88119. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
