Peter Bernal

Peter Bernal, 56 a resident of the Pecos Valley Care Center for the past two months died Tuesday, January 25, 2000 in the De Baca General Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Bernal was born October 10, 1943 in Cleveland, New Mexico. He is the son of Adonias Padilla and Lilly Bernal. Peter was raised at Cleveland and attended school at Mora, New Mexico. Peter spent many years at the New Mexico State Hospital and a boarding home in Anton Chico before coming to the Pecos Valley Care Center. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. He is survived by three brothers Juan LeRoy Padilla of Del Norte, Colorado, Jose Padilla of Cleveland, New Mexico; Leo Padilla Bernal of Durango, Colorado; one sister Merlyn Julia Hurtado of Denver, Colorado. Interment services were held Tuesday, February 8, 2000 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Sister Teresita Garcia and Michael Sena offered prayers at the gravesite. Arrangements were under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home.
