Eloy Chavez

Eloy Chavez, age 82, passed away unexpectedly September 3, 2002 in Santa Rosa. Eloy was born March 1, 1920 in Santa Rosa to the home of Manuel and Rosaida Zamora Chavez. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Eloy married Agneda Lucero on May 5, 1947 in Santa Rosa. He was a veteran of WWII. Eloy worked at El Vasito Bar and as a carpenter and in his later years as a custodian for the Santa Rosa Schools. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Eloy is preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter Amanda Bueno, his brothers Manuel Chavez, Joe Chavez, Tiofilio Chavez, his sister Antonia Ortega and a nephew George Ortega, Sr. Survivors include his wife Agenda Chavez of the family home in Santa Rosa, his children, Max Lucero and wife Dolores of Santa Rosa, Isabel Chavez and husband Joe of Albuquerque, Erminio Chavez and wife Corrine of Santa Rosa, Julia Padilla and husband Mele of Santa Rosa, Jane Baca and husband Gerald of Santa Rosa, Geraldine Youngs and husband Mike of Germany and Jeff Chavez and wife Rhonda of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are his brothers Victor Chavez and wife Maria and Juan Chavez all of Santa Rosa and a nephew Robert Chavez of Santa Rosa, 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Friday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:00 also from St. Rose Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Diane Chavez, Jackie Sierra, Nadine Selgado, Leo Lucero, Eric Chavez, Jose Vidal Maestas, Peter Padilla and Kimberly Romero. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
