Manuel DeAtocha Sisneros, age 89, passed away September 15, 2001 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Manuel was born October 5, 1911 in Cuervo, NM to the home of Maximillano and Francisquita Ulibarri Sisneros. He was reared in Cuervo and Colonias. Manuel married Luz Gallegos on Febuary 10, 1936. He and his wife Luz were longtime cattle ranchers in Colonias for many years. Manuel worked for REA as a lineman for 11 years. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Colonias and St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Manuel loved tending to his cattle, attend rodeos, ropings and the cattle auctions. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Francisquita, his brothers Ramon, Frank, Severiano, Jose and Max. Survivors include his wife Luz of Santa Rosa, his children Frances Wilkerson and husband Byron of Maple Valley, Washington, Silvano Sisneros and wife Seferina of Santa Rosa, Reynaldo Sisneros and wife Clara of Albuquerque and Patsy Magin and husband Tom of Apache Junction, AZ. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Roasry services were held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 also from St. Rose Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial followed at San Jose Cemetery in Colonias. Serving as Pallbearers were his grandchildren Melissa Sisneros, Perla Magin, Frank Sisneros, Silviano Sisneros, Jr., Thomas Jaramillo and Roxanne Sisneros. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Fred Lucero, Glenn Holland and all his nephews. All services were entruste to The Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
