Mary Panebouef Marcilla

Mary Panebouef Marcilla, 88 a longtime Vaughn, NM motel operator died Thursday, April 19, 2001 in the De Baca General Hospital at Fort Sumner following an illness. Mrs. Marcilla was born April 26, 1912 in Anton Chico, NM to the home of Augustine and Ponciana (Barela) Panebouef. She was reared and attended schools at Vaughn, NM. She married Max Marcilla on August 14, 1928 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn. Together they owned and operated the Skyline Motel for many years. Max preceded her in death in 1978. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Vaughn. She was also preceded in death by a son Gilbert Marcilla in 1993; a sister Julia Gazolas in 1997; a son-in-law Ramon Perez in 1998; three brothers Alex Panebouef, Leon Panebouef, and Ernest Panebouef. Survivors include two daughters Albina D’Antonio and husband John Sr. of Albuquerque; Deanna Perez of Fort Sumner, NM, three sons Max Marcilla Jr. and wife Maria Luz of Flagstaff, AZ; Frank Marcilla and wife Alice of Albuquerque; Arthur Marcilla and wife Irma of Del Norte, CO. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, April 22, 2001 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 23, 2001 with Father Christopher Pieroni, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Pallbearers will include Travis Marcilla, John D’Antonio Jr., Michael D’Antonio, Perry D’Antonio, Gilbert (Bud) Marcilla, Maxie Marcilla, Jose Pablo Marcilla, Walt Gutierrez, Dennis Palmer, Greg Kenyherz, and Honorary bearers will be Alex Gazolas, Danny Panebouef, Armando Panebouef, Charlie Panebouef, Mauricio Garde, Jaime Marcilla, Manolo Alonso, J.J. Sikora, and all her other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Saturday from 1PM to 6PM at the funeral home.
