Funeral arrangements for Abel Kirk Abeyta, 28 of Clovis, NM are pending with Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner. Abel passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Abel was born November 30, 1997 in Clovis, NM, the son of Anthony Joshua Kirk Abeyta and Crystal Elaine (Bishop) Abeyta. He grew up in Fort Sumner and Clovis. He attended school in Fort Sumner and Clovis, graduating from Clovis High School.

Abel worked in the construction industry in the Clovis area. He enjoyed collecting coins, vehicles, and work tools. While living in Fort Sumner, Abel attended The Church on The Hill.

He was preceded in death by his mother Elains and Sister Candace on March 11, 2006, his paternal grandmother Laura Abeyta on July 16, 2025, a cousin Manuel Silva Jr. on June 14, 2019, and his paternal grandfather Danny Paul Bishop on December 11, 2015.

Abel was a loving father, he is survived by a son, Sebastian Ortiz of Clovis, NM, his father Anthony Joshua Abeyta (Pauline), a sister Ashley Nicole Richerd, and two brothers Anthony Abeyta Jr. (Angela) and Terrance Abeyta all of Clovis, New Mexico. Also surviving is his paternal grandfather Louis Abeyta of Friona, Texas and his maternal grandmother Bea Prather (Buddy) of Bovina, Texas.

Funeral services and interment will be held in Fort Sumner, NM.
