Andre Martinez

Andre Miguel Martinez was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and was raised in Santa Rosa, a place he proudly called home throughout his life. A 1996 graduate of Santa Rosa High School, Andre later attended the New Mexico State Corrections Academy, beginning a career built on hard work, resilience, and dedication. Over the years he worked as a laborer, ranch hand, and corrections officer, earning the respect of those who knew him through his dependability, strong work ethic, and willingness to do whatever needed to be done.

To know Andre was to know someone who found his greatest peace outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or searching for arrowheads, he had a deep appreciation for the beauty and history of New Mexico. He could spend hours exploring the land, always hoping to uncover a piece of the past. The outdoors wasn’t simply a hobby—it was where he felt most at home. Family and friends will remember him for his easygoing spirit, his love of nature, and the countless memories made on hunting trips, fishing outings, and quiet days spent together.

A lifelong member of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, Andre’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Marisah Baca; his cherished grandson, Arias Baca-Valdez; his parents, Patrick “Pato” Martinez and Gloria Martinez of Santa Rosa; his brother, Manuel Martinez; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts, great-uncles, and dear friends who will forever treasure the time they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Napoleon and Utilia Martinez, and Delfido and Aurora Elevario; his uncle Horace Elevario and aunt Jennie Elevario; his uncle Pat Elevario; his aunts Sylvia Gonzales and Viola Ulibarri and her husband, Tim Sr.; his cousins Joe D. Elevario, Tara Martinez, Christopher Elevario, and Baby Isaac Urban; along with many beloved relatives from the Martinez, Apodaca, Elevario, and Lopez families.

Andre’s life was a reminder that happiness is often found in the simplest things: a quiet morning outdoors, time spent with those you love, and an honest day’s work. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of family, and his appreciation for the outdoors. Although his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain with all who knew him.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, July 6, 2026, from 2-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.

Funeral services for Andre are scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, beginning at 10AM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with the Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary and the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following, with Father Jacob Romero celebrating the service.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with Ricky Blea, Lorenzo Lucero, Josh Serrano, Timothy Ulibarri, Bert Elevario, Ronald Maldonado, Abel Apodaca, and Jason Lopez serving as Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Andre’s many cousins and friends, especially Melissa, Travis, Maxine, David, Fabian, Marie, Sandra, Juliette, Jessyca, Steven, Josh, Felicia, Mario, and Jennifer, along with all those who were fortunate enough to call him family or friend.
