Antonia "Toni" Martinez

Antonia “Toni” Martinez, 83, of Santa Rosa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 2, 2019, in Santa Fe, NM. Antonia was born on June 9, 1936, in Puerto De Luna, NM to the home of Eliberto Flores and Equiteria(Espinoza) Flores.  She was raised by her grandparents Carlos and Raymunda Arguello in Vaughn, NM.   Antonia married  Arturo Martinez on May 7, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in El Paso, TX—they were inseparable for 68 years.  She was a devoted wife, homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, and a very talented quilter.  Antonia was a faithful parishioner of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was a member of Las Hijas De Maria. She also taught Catechism for the Church and was also a member of the Blockhead Quilters.  Antonia’s hobbies included sewing for her family, quilting and making cheerleader uniforms for many years.  She was also an accomplished baker and made many cakes for happy occasions.  She will be remembered for the time she devoted to her family and friends, and the love and special times she shared with them. Antonia is preceded in death by her parents, the grandparents who raised her, brother; Erminio Flores and sisters; Frances Sisneros, Elvira Segura, and Patsy Ortiz. Antonia is survived by her husband of 68 years; Arturo Martinez of the family home in Santa Rosa, sons; Pete Martinez (Mary) of Santa Fe, NM and Joseph (Killarney) Martinez of Ramah, NM, daughters; Doris (Vince) Cordova of Puerto De Luna, NM, Liza (Bob) Harrison of Puerto De Luna, NM, Barbara (Greg) Meyer of Santa Fe, NM, Margaret (Marc) DuCharme of Santa Fe, NM and Juanita Martinez (Scott Stramel) of Santa Fe,NM, sisters; Dora Sanchez of Puerto De Luna, Ramona Pickle of Arizona, Dolores Campos of Cedar Crest,NM, Faby Gomez of Santa Rosa, Julia-Teri Cordova of Rio Rancho, NM, Evelyn Marquez of Albuquerque, NM and Maryann Ware of Wichita Falls, KS and brother; Danny Flores of Santa Rosa. Antonia is also survived by her grandchildren; Peter Martinez and fiancé Amanda Aguilar, Christopher (Melissa) Harrison, Joshua (Diana) Harrison, Jennifer (Jason) Jones, Katrina (Jeff) Smith, Patricia Cordova, Ethan Marquez, Brandy Queen, Nicholas Meyer, Gabrielle DuCharme, Luc DuCharme, Isabella Salazar and Juliana Salazar and great-grandchildren; Taylor Harrison, Mason Harrison, Raegan Harrison, RyanSmith, Cameron Smith, Magnolia Cordova-Jones, Quinn Cordova-Jones, Bailey Queen and Korbyn Queen. Visitation will be Thursday, December 5, 2019, from 1-4:30 PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Friday, December 6, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Nuestra Señora DeRefugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna, NM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, with FatherSotero Sena as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the family plot at Nuestra Señora De Refugio Cemetery in Puerto De Luna with Christopher Harrison, Joshua Harrison, Ethan Marquez, Nicholas Meyer, Marc DuCharme, Bobby Harrison, Vincent Cordova and Greg Meyer serving as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Antonia’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
