Augustine M. Roybal

Augustine M. Roybal, 81, of Santa Fe, NM passed away at his home on Sunday, March 25, 2018.Augustine was born in Yeso, NM to the home of Silviano Roybal and Cipriana (Marquez) Roybal.  He attended school in Yeso, NM before marrying Josie (Pacheco) Roybal on February 4, 1955 in Clovis, NM.Augustine made his home in Santa Fe where he worked in the grocery industry as a meat cutter.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  During his spare time, Augustine enjoyed spending time with his family and taking daily walks.  Part of Augustine's walking routine prepared him for his numerous pilgrimages to the Santuario in Chimayo, NM.  He was a devout Roman Catholic, attending Mass regularly at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Santa Fe, and he also recited the rosary daily.  In his devotion to the Church, Augustine was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Augustine is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Mary Pedroza, Cleo Sanchez and Linda Bonney, brothers; Napoleon Roybal, Teofilo Roybal and Albino Roybal. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josie Roybal, daughters; Connie (Daniel) Mares of Tucumcari, NM, Liz (Jamie) Morris of Bernalillo, NM, Debra (Cruz) Mendoza of Santa Fe, NM and Joann (Oscar) Loya of Santa Fe, NM, sons; Gus (Sandra) Roybal of Santa Fe, NM, Michael (Michelle) Roybal of Santa Fe, NM and Guy Wayne (Renell) Roybal of Santa Fe, NM.  He is also survived by his brothers Silvestre Roybal of Ft. Sumner, NM and Silviano Roybal of Clovis, NM, a special niece Tammy (Barry) Watson of Albuquerque, NM as well as 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many family members and friends. Holy Rosary will be recited from Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 7:00 P.M.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Saint Rose of Lima with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in the family plot. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Serving as Pallbearers are Matthew Mares, Mark Roybal, Brandon Roybal, Johnathan Naranjo, Isaiah Loya and Jason Roybal.  Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
