Barton Boni

A Communion Service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 27, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM with Deacon Marvin Marquez officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Barton Angelo Boni, 86 a resident of Lake Sumner, NM passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Retirement Ranch in Clovis, NM following an illness. He was born November 23, 1935 in Fresno, CA to the home of Delia (Rapolla) and Barton Boni. Barton grew up in Fresno, CA, he was a 1954 graduate of San Joaquin Catholic High School. Barton attended Fresno State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree and received a Master's Degree in Music Composition from California Northridge. Bart had a passion for composing music. As a teenager he gave private Accordion lessons. He had several of his music composition pieces published. Barton served in the U.S. Army and the California National Guard. He was honorably discharged on September 21, 1959. Barton taught school in California for several years, he also taught on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona for 15 years. He retired in 2001. Bart and his wife Geniveve made Lake Sumner, NM their home in 2002. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Geniveve Boni. Survivors include two children, a daughter Casandra O'Brien and husband John of Hanford, CA and a son Thomas Boni of California, two siblings, a brother Eugene Boni of Fresno, CA and a sister Alice Joyce of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are two grandchildren Kyle and Kaylee O'Brien, five nieces and nephews along with a host of friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
