In Loving Memory of Charles James Bryson
A Tribute to a Life Well-Lived
Charles James Bryson, born on October 30, 1952, departed from this world on May 19, 2025. James, as he was affectionately known, leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and cherished memories that will endure in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
Raised by his Great Grandmother Olegaria and Great Uncle Fernando Chacon, James grew up surrounded by a family whose love and guidance shaped his character and values. James attended Parochial School, where he laid the foundation for his academic journey, culminating in his graduation from Santa Rosa High in 1970. His formative years were marked by a deep connection to his family and a burgeoning passion for music.
James was an exemplary guitarist whose talent brought joy and harmony to those around him. He often joined his Padrino Eugenio Chacon and his uncles Fernando and Matias Chacon in performing Instrumentals, Polkas, and Rancheras—a testament to his deep roots in the musical traditions of his heritage. His artistry extended beyond family gatherings; in the late 1960s and early 1970s, James showcased his versatility as a musician by playing with the Gargoyles, a group that further exemplified his passion for music.
James's life was enriched by the love and support of his surviving family members. His legacy will be carried forward by Claudina Garcia and Family, Christina Esquibel and Family, Luisa Chappell & Jerry, and Fritz Montoya & Marcella and Family. Each of them holds a special place in James's heart, and their memories of him will continue to be a source of strength and inspiration.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will take place Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 1PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Interment of cremains will follow with a graveside service at La Morada Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
In the spirit of James's life, let us remember him not only for his remarkable talent and love of music but also for his warmth, his kindness, and the way he brought people together. Charles James Bryson’s legacy is a melody that will resonate forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
