Cheryl Ann Lewis

Cheryl A. Lewis, 72, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in her home in Ridgecrest, California, after an extended battle with illness, surrounded by family and friends. Born on August 4, 1953, in San Diego, California, to the home of Barbara A. Lewis-Prendergast and James Riley Lewis Sr.. Cheryl lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and deep devotion to those she loved.

Cheryl graduated from Carson High School and went on to attend Long Beach Community College. Her early years laid the foundation for a life centered around family, faith, and joy. She was a devoted member of Saint Lucy Catholic Church in Long Beach during her youth and later became a cherished member of Saint Ann Catholic Church in Ridgecrest.

Throughout her life, Cheryl embraced every opportunity to bring happiness to others. She was known for her infectious sense of humor and her unwavering belief in the power of a smile. One of her favorite sayings was, "If someone is not smiling, then give them one of yours," a sentiment she lived by each day.

Cheryl found immense joy in spending time with her family and friends. Whether telling jokes, surfing, skating, playing games, enjoying the great outdoors while camping, she loved being part of the Girl Scouts of America, and relaxing with a good movie. She treasured these moments deeply. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #833. Even during times of illness, Cheryl remained committed to lifting the spirits of those around her.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—roles she held with pride and grace. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her kindness and humor.

Cheryl is survived by her Daughters: Vanessa (Ted), Missy Smith of Clovis, and Trisha. Her grandchildren: Candis, Nicole, Megan, Alicia, Stacey, Serena, Alexis, Madelynn, Elizabeth, Johnathan, and 11 great-grandchildren. Her siblings: Patricia, Sheila, and Matthew. As well as other extended family. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, James Sr. and Barbara, and her brothers James Jr. and Michael.

Her memory will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
