Chris Lopez

Joseph “Chris” Lopez, 67 of Albuquerque and Puerto De Luna passed away unexpectedly on Thursday August  22, 2019. He was born October 29, 1951 in Puerto De Luna, NM to the home of Julian and Teofila (Ocana) Lopez. Chris married Cathie Leyba on December 22, 1979. Chris worked for many years as a General Contractor, an occupation he loved. Chris was at a job work site the day our Lord called him away. Chris enjoyed spending time with this family and playing poker. He lived his life to the fullest and always on his own terms.  He brightened up every room with his mischievous behavior and was always the life of the party.  He was a man that thought of others before himself.  If we reflect on his memory, he has touched each and every one of us in his own unique special way which made us all feel so special. He is preceded by many beloved family members Chris was a loving husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Cathie Lopez, two daughters Alicia Trujillo (Johnny), and Felicia Rice (Jarel), one son Daniel Lopez and two grandsons Jacob Trujillo and Nolan Rice. Also surviving are his siblings Lorriane Branch (Dennis), Dolores Padilla (Serafin), Horacio Lopez (Sandra), Dan Lopez (Linda), Joe Lopez (Lydia), Robert Lopez, and George Lopez (Debra), two sisters in law Viola Lopez and Fedelina Lopez along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will truly miss Chris. Holy Rosary followed by the Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna, New Mexico. Interment will follow at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Cemetery with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Pallbearers will include Jarel Rice, Johnny Trujillo, Mario Lopez, Julian Lopez, Marcos Doyon and Joseph Salgado. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S.
