Clorinda Magdalena Romero, born on October 28, 1931, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, passed away on December 11, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. A devoted homemaker and life-long Catholic, Clorinda dedicated her life to her family and faith, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Clorinda began her educational journey in Santa Rosa and California, before continuing her studies in Tucumcari and Clovis. She married the love of her life, Juan Romero, on December 29, 1949, in Amarillo, Texas. Together, they built a nurturing home in Guadalupe County for many years before moving to Clovis in 1995, where they created countless cherished memories.
Throughout her life, Clorinda had a profound passion for cooking and baking, often delighting her family with delicious meals and treats during holidays as well as at family gatherings. Her enjoyment of raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was evident in the warmth and care she poured into her role as a matriarch. Clorinda's nurturing spirit, along with her warm smile, will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her children, Margie (Mel) Garcia, Irene Romero-daughter-in-law, Edward (Lilly) Romero, Diane (Pat) Chavez, Christine (Gary) Mundell, Juan Romero, Jr., Bernice (Kent) Salazar, Eloise Romero, Joe (Tudy) Romero, Philix Romero and Andrea (Ricky) Ochoa, granddaughter whom she raised; Tanya (Nathan) Castillo, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Clorinda is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Matilde (Henderson) Rivera; her husband, Juan Romero; an infant daughter and son; her daughter, Bertha Romero; her son, Alfred Romero, Sr.; her brothers, George C. Sena, Louis A. Sena, Trinidad Rivera and Carlos Rivera, Jr.; and her sisters, Margie Rivera and Dolly Salas.
Viewing for family and friends will be Friday, December 19, 2025, from 1-5PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary is scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025 at 7PM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa.
The funeral service for Mrs. Romero will be Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 1PM at Saint Rose, with Deacons Marvin Marquez and Jerry Dueñes concelebrating the communion service.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with Alfred Romero, Jr., Christopher Romero, Jr., Gary Mundell, Jr., Juan Romero, III, Arthur Lucero, Jr., Ricky Ochoa, Nathan Castillo and Joe Romero, Jr. serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
