Darlene "Gramma Coco" Gutierrez

Darlene "Gramma Coco" Gutierrez, beloved mother, wife, sister, and grandmother passed away unexpectedly on June 15th, 2023 in Las Vegas, NM at the age of 56. Born on December 17th, 1966 in Santa Rosa, NM to Abel Lucero and Maria Josie Salazar. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and attended school in Santa Rosa. Darlene had worked as a correctional officer for many years at GEO.

On October 21st, 1988 she married Alberto Gutierrez in Santa Rosa with whom she shared her life for over thirty years. Darlene was an avid reader who loved watching movies and enjoyed cooking. Most importantly she cherished every moment spent with her daughters Alberta and Melissa and her grandson Solomon.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents Abel and Maria Josie, son baby Gutierrez, sister Frances Salazar, brother Michael Sena and mother-in-law Teresita "Terry" Gutierrez. She is survived by her husband Alberto Gutierrez of the family home, daughters Alberta Gutierrez-Soliz (Adrian) and Melissa Gutierrez: grandson Solomon Soliz all of Santa Rosa; sister Maria Cindy Sena of El Paso; father-in-law Antonio L. Gutierrez of Albuquerque; sister-in-law Isabel Saiz (Ruben) of Puerto De Luna; brother-in-law Arsenio Gutierrez of Albuquerque; and numerous nephews, nieces, family members, and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Sunday, June 18th from 1-5pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.

Her grandson Solomon Soliz will serve as an urn-bearer while April Saiz, Arthur Lucero, Karen Jaramillo, Carla Jaramillo, Ruby Saiz Moyer, Mario Saiz, Charlene Chavez, Francisca Saiz, and Joe Saiz will serve as honorary urn-bearers.

Darlene's kind spirit and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished forever.
