Diana Romero

Diana Romero, 63 of Puerto De Luna, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Guadalupe County Hospital, on Thursday, December 5, 2019. Diana was born to Jessie and Guadalupe (Moreno) Vasquez on November 12, 1956 in Taft, TX.  Diana was raised in Taft and later moved to Morton, TX.  There, she married her husband of 45 years, Jose Romero on August 24, 1974.  She worked in the cotton fields, in food service and for the Anton Chico Schools.  In her youth Diana loved to sing and was also a member of a choir in Morton, TX. In 1985 she and Jose made their home in Tecolotito, NM and then moved to Puerto De Luna in 1994. She enjoyed arts and crafts, canning, helping at the ranch and singing—she was also a parishioner of San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM. Diana is preceded in death by her parents; Jessie and Guadalupe Vasquez, her biological father; Marcos Garcia, son; Jose Geronimo Romero, brothers; Jessie “Pepe” Vasquez and Leandro Moreno, sister; Graciela Vasquez and infant sisters; Emily and Josie Vasquez and granddaughter; Joclynn Pacheco. Diana is survived by her husband; Jose Romero of the family home in Puerto De Luna, sons; Joe (Monique) Romero, Jr. of Santa Rosa, and Andy (Elise) Romero, Sr. of Puerto De Luna, daughters; Yvonne (James) Rodarte of Santa Rosa and Shadonna (Bryan) Aragon of Puerto De Luna, brothers; Eugene (Lenore) Vasquez of Big Spring, TX, Mario (Carol) Vasquez, San Benito (Lisa) Vasquez, Michael (Elisa) Vasquez and Leonard (Susie) Vasquez all of Taft, TX  and sisters; Angelina Vasquez of Corpus Christi, TX, Evangelina (Rudy) Hernandez of Lubbock, TX, Janie (Charlie) Gallegos of Dalhart, TX, Rosemary (Ray) Lujan of Sinton, TX and Jessica (Brandon) Davis of Dalhart, TX as well as 17 grandchildren and one on the way. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 1-4 PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.  Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa with Bryan Aragon, James Rodarte, Benito Romero, Isaac Jaramillo, Marcus Romero, Nathaniel Rodarte, Andy Romero, Jr., Jared Romero, Christopher Romero, Bryan Aragon, Jr., and Jeremy Aragon serving as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Diana’s nephews and nieces.  Burial will follow at a later date in Taft, TX.
