Elauterio Martinez, Sr.

Elauterio Martinez, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Elauterio was born February 23, 1944, in El Llano del Medio, New Mexico, to Domingo and Paula (Garcia) Martinez. He attended school in El Llano and later made his home there.

Elauterio dedicated 35 years of service to the Guadalupe County Road Department. In addition to his work with the county, he enjoyed farming and ranching in Anton Chico, and he was also a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico.

Elauterio enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, playing pool at the Senior Center, horseback riding, and attending rodeos. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. His love for his family and the memories they shared will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Martinez; his parents, Domingo and Paula Martinez; his grandson, Julian Martinez; his brothers, Jose and Orlando Martinez; and his sisters, Candelaria Lucero, Virginia Gonzales, and Romana Romo.

He is survived by his children, Dolores Cleto (Jose), Angelica Martinez, Elauterio Martinez, Jr. (Corrine), Richard Martinez (Mary), and Caroline Martinez-Maestas; his grandchildren; Manuel Maestas (Jackie), Veronica Richie (Sef), Julian Fisher (John), Amanda Trujillo (Caleb), David Martinez (Sequoyah), Nicole Salas (Joseph), Kelsie Martinez (Hunter), Jordan Martinez, Jellie Martinez, Eric Tapia and Maria Lupe Gutierrez, his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Amilee, Myra, Kiara, Nayeli, Olivia, Maria, Seth, Mia Maestas, Riley, and Catherine Sena; and his sisters, Rosina Dominguez, Aggie Abeyta, and Cecilia Gallegos. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and loved ones who will continue to cherish his memory.

Viewing will begin at 9AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026 beginning at 10AM at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico.

Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Anton Chico with Jose Cleto, Manuel Maestas, David Martinez, Severiano Griego, Ernie Chavez, Caroline Martinez-Maestas, Carlos Baca, Brian Marquez, Eric Tapia, and all of his grandchildren serving as Pallbearers.
