Elizabeth "Beth" Kay Truman, 60, passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2026 at her Fort Sumner home. Beth was born July 11, 1965 in Muleshoe, Texas to the home of James and Sammie Weatherford. Beth grew up and attended school in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
Beth waitressed at many restaurants in T or C and Las Cruces. Beth was a waitress at the Route 66 restaurant in Tucumcari when she reconnected with Dennis Truman. The two of them fell in love and married on July 14, 2006 in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
Beth called many places home over her lifetime. She lived in T or C, Arkansas, Texas, Tucumcari, and for the last 9 years Fort Sumner.
A loving wife, daughter, mother, and grandma, Beth was a believer of Jesus Christ. She demonstrated her love for Jesus in the way she cared for everyone around her. She was the rock of her family, always there for them with a big smile and poking fun. Beth loved caring for her house plants, and horseback riding.
Beth is preceded in death by her father James Lee Weatherford, and one granddaughter Mary Gamble.
Beth is survived by her husband Dennis Truman of the family home in Fort Sumner, her mother Sammie Weatherford of Fort Sumner, two sons Richard "Ricky" Tharp of Fort Sumner, and John Gamble of Clovis. She is survived by two daughter in laws she loved dearly Tammy Westfall of Fort Sumner and Michelle Espinosa of Roswell. She is survived by six grandkids: Josh Tharp of Minnesota, Andrew Gamble, Dawson Gamble, Howard Gamble, Davin Gamble, and Alicia Foster all of Fort Sumner. She is also survived by six siblings: Alan Ladd, Larry Ladd, Jody Grant, Calvin Weatherford, James Dell Weatherford, and Michelle Ransom. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
