Emiterio P. Velasquez

Emiterio P. Velasquez, 81, of Anton Chico, NM passed away at Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM, surrounded by his family on August 9, 2018, following an illness. Emiterio was born in Dilia, NM to the home of Hilario Velasquez and Aurelia (Padilla) Velasquez.  After graduating from Santa Rosa High School, he married the former Terry A. Rael on February 17, 1962 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM.  Making their home in Roswell, NM, Emiterio worked for Armstrong and Armstrong Construction as an equipment operator.  After retiring, Emiterio and Terry made their home in Anton Chico where he was a parishioner at Saint Joseph’s.  In his spare time, Emiterio enjoyed gardening, going to the casinos, horse racing and playing dice.  He loved his family and particularly enjoyed the time he spent with them. Emiterio is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Marcella Padilla, Carmen Chavez and Isabel Martinez, brothers; Alfred Velasquez, Alex Velasquez and Pat Velasquez, and a grandson; Camden Garcia. He is survived by his wife of 56 years; Terry, of the family home, daughters; Ernestine Velasquez of Anton Chico, Carrie Sue (Lionel) Garcia of Colorado Springs, Colorado and son; Kevin (Shiela) Velasquez of Pecos, NM.  Also surviving are grandchildren; Guthrie (Alise) Ornelas and Dominic and Vanessa Ornelas, Brandon, Alexandra and Karlos Velasquez, Andres Garcia and great-grandchildren; Caleb and Ayden Ornelas.  Emiterio is also survived by his sisters; Marilyn Gallegos of Albuquerque and Dolores (David) Cordova of Anton Chico, brothers; Hilario (Mildred) Velasquez, Jr. of Albuquerque, and Max (Gabby) Velasquez of Santa Rosa and sisters-in-law; Patsy (Rudy) Archibeque of Anton Chico and Maria Velasquez of Santa Rosa. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., followed by the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 6:00 P.M. at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. The Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico, with Father Antonio Mondragon officiating.  Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Anton Chico.
