Frances Diaz

Frances Diaz, 79 of Tucumcari, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Frances was born November 13, 1945 in Dilia, NM to Ruperto Baca, Jr. and Crestina (Serna) Baca. She was raised in Tucumcari, where she attended school. On August 20, 1966, Frances married Mike J. Diaz, Jr and they moved to Friona, Texas, where they raised their family. In 1988, the family moved back to Tucumcari.

A faithful parishioner at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Frances truly enjoyed the time she spent with her family and will be remembered as an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents: Ruperto and Crestina Baca, her husband: Mike J. Diaz, Jr. and brothers: Antonio and Leroy Baca.

Frances is survived by her children: Gilbert (Valerie) Diaz of Tucumcari, Mike J. (Tammy) Diaz, III of Kingman, AZ, Debbie (Wayne) Fought and Ruben (Laurie) Diaz—both of Tucumcari, her grandchildren: Mike J. Diaz, IV (Drew), Isaac Diaz, Ryan (Dana) Fought, Laura Fought, John Fought, Andrew (Kenia) Diaz, Jordyn Diaz (Josh Lopez), Jayden Diaz, Alyssa Diaz and Jonathan Diaz. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters, 3 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 28, 2025 beginning with the Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary at 11:30AM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 Noon at St. Anne’s, with Father Cameron Degani celebrating the service.

Interment will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park, in the Diaz family plot with Mike J. Diaz, IV, Ryan Fought, Andrew Diaz, John Fought, Isaac Diaz, Adan Diaz and Jonathan Diaz serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Laura Fought, Jordyn Diaz, Jayden Diaz, Alyssa Diaz and Jesse Carrera.
