Frank Lucero Jr, 73, of Clovis, NM passed away at his home on November 26, 2025. Frank was born in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Frank Lucero Sr and Rena Rosa (Lopez) Lucero on May 31, 1952. He grew up in Fort Sumner and attended Fort Sumner Schools. He was an athlete and played football, basketball and track for the Fort Sumner Foxes.
Frank entered into the US Navy on August 7, 1969. Following his military service Frank made Clovis his home in 1971. On April 11, 1971 Frank received an achievement award for saving the life of a Fort Sumner man.
Frank worked for the Clovis Street Department for 32 years until his retirement in 2014. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis, and the Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #25. Frank enjoyed shooting pool at the American Legion, and playing softball.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, infant siblings Pablo Lucero and Frances Lucero, two brothers, Johnny Lucero, and Bobby Lucero, and a nephew Johnny Joe Lucero.
Frank is survived by his children Frank Lucero III of San Antonio, TX, Cheryl Lucero of New Braunfels, TX, and Lisa Lucero and her husband Steven of Fort Sumner, NM, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchild, along with four sisters Mary Jane Finnell, Nancy Lopez, Josie Lucero, and Alice Zambrano all of Clovis, and one uncle Jake Lucero and his wife Josephine of Fort Sumner.
Viewing hours will be Tuesday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 9am to 10am at the church prior to services.
A Holy Rosary followed by a Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM with Father Jacob Romero officiating. Interment with U.S. Navy Military Honors will follow at Saint Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Joseph Lopez, Leonard Zamora, Bryan Ergang, Alijah Terrazas, Joe Chaparro, Jacob Martinez, Michael Lucero, Frank Lopez and Elijah Chavez. Honorary bearers will be all his grandchildren, great-grand children, and his many friends.
