Genevieve Gardner-Brown

Genevieve E. Brown, 83 of Tucumcari, NM passed away in Amarillo, TX on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Genevieve was born April 17, 1942 in Tucumcari to Clifton Laing Gardner and May Ellen (Bridges) Gardner. She was raised in Tucumcari, where she also attended school.

In her career, Genevieve was a clerk at a service station, clerk at a stamp store, drove for E&L Escort, was a licensed life insurance agent for American National Life Insurance and worked in the home health field.

Genevieve lived and worked in Albuquerque, San Francisco, Amarillo and Arkansas before returning to Tucumcari, where she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. In her spare time, she liked sewing and art. Genevieve particularly enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and her fur baby, Mikayla.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and May Ellan Gardner, husband, Gene Brown, daughters, Angela Susan Hatton, Lorrie Simmons and grandchildren, Charles Michael Hatton, Marcos Benavidez and Monica Laire and brother, Glen Gardner.

Surviving Genevieve are her children, Christopher (Mary Lou) Hatton of Albuquerque and Gwendolyn Hatton Benavidez of Tucumcari, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Genevieve is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11AM at Tucumcari Memorial Park in Tucumcari, NM, with Pastor Runyan from Immanuel Baptist Church officiating.
