Fort Sumner
George L Gonzales, 82 a lifelong Fort Sumner resident passed away at his home surrounded by his family on July 15, 2026. George was born on June 16, 1944 in Fort Sumner to the home of Albert and Louise (Lopez) Gonzales. He attended Fort Sumner Schools and graduated with the class of 1962.
Visitation will be from 1pm to 6pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Chavez Funeral Home.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner with Father Jacob Romero officiating. Interment will follow at the Fort Sumner Cemetery.
