Herbert "Herb" Tenorio, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, at the age of 56. Born on January 4, 1970, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Herb was known for his dedication to his work and his passion for life.

Herb spent over 30 years working for various construction companies, with a significant portion of his career devoted to the New Mexico Department of Transportation, where he served diligently and honorably as an Engineering Technician Supervisor. He also took pride in hauling flagstone, a reflection of his commitment to hard work and attention to detail.

A proud alumnus of Santa Rosa High School, Herb graduated in 1988 before furthering his education at trade school in Arizona and TVI in Albuquerque. His pursuit of knowledge and skills was a testament to his determination to contribute positively to his community.

Outside of his professional life, Herb enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He had a profound love for the outdoors, often indulging in hunting and participating in sports, demonstrating his fierce support for the Chargers. His zest for life was evident to all who knew him.

Herb is survived by his loving son, Steven Tenorio of Santa Rosa; and cherished siblings, Maximiliano Tenorio (Yolanda), Frank Tenorio, and Cristobal Tenorio (Kate), all of Santa Rosa; Veronica Zeller and Agneda Tenorio, both of Amarillo, TX; Agnes Tenorio of Edgewood, NM; Betty Goins (Richard) of Amarillo, TX; Anna Damon (Joseph) of Los Lunas, NM; and Rudy Tenorio (Sonia) of Santa Rosa, NM; as well as Levine Tenorio of Tecolotito, NM. He is also remembered fondly by many nephews, nieces, other family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Maria Tenorio; his brother, Lee Tenorio; his niece, Yvonne Gallegos; his nephew, Christopher Tenorio; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Spriggs.

Viewing for family and friends will take place on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 2 pm - 7 pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.

The family invites friends and loved ones to gather for a funeral service on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Blue Hole Convention Center in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, with Pastor Beau Lamb officiating. Burial will take place at Cemeterio Del Cierrito Huerfano in Tecolotito, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Sanchez, Ted Saiz, Daniel Coca, Frankie Tenorio, Andres Urban, and Billy Velasquez. Honorary Pallbearers will include Leo Sandoval, Steve Flores (Posthumously), and all his nieces and nephews.

Herb Tenorio will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love for family, and an enduring spirit of kindness.
