Herbert "Herb" Tenorio

Herbert "Herb" Tenorio, a beloved member of the Santa Rosa community, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on January 4, 1970, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Herb was a devoted son, brother, and father, whose life was marked by hard work and a passion for the outdoors.

Herb dedicated over 30 years of his career to the New Mexico Department of Transportation after working for various construction companies and hauling flagstone. He retired as an Engineering Technician Supervisor, a testament to his dedication and expertise in the field. Herb was a proud graduate of Santa Rosa High School, where he completed his education in 1988, furthering his knowledge at trade school in Arizona and at TVI in Albuquerque.

Beyond his professional life, Herb cherished his time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid sports fan, particularly devoted to the Chargers. His enthusiasm for life was evident in the way he engaged with friends and family, sharing memorable moments that will forever remain in their hearts.

Herb's legacy will live on through his son, Steven Tenorio of Santa Rosa, and his many siblings: Maximiliano Tenorio (Yolanda), Frank Tenorio, and Rudy Tenorio (Sonia), all of Santa Rosa; Veronica Zeller and Agneda Tenorio, both of Amarillo, TX; Cristobal Tenorio (Kate) of Santa Rosa, NM; Agnes Tenorio of Tucumcari, NM; Betty Goins (Richard) of Amarillo, TX; Anna Damon (Joseph) of Los Lunas, NM; and Levine Tenorio of Tecolotito, NM. He is also survived by a cherished community of nephews, nieces, family, and friends who will remember him warmly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Maria Tenorio; his brother, Lee Tenorio; niece, Yvonne Gallegos; nephew, Christopher Tenorio; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Spriggs. 

Herb's love for his family and friends defined his life, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him, and he will be deeply missed.
