Joe R. Madril, 73 of Duran, NM passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

Joe was born to Jose Guadalupe Madril and Maria Dionesia (Jaramillo) Madril on March 19, 1950 in Duran, NM.  Joe was raised in Duran and later graduated from Encino High School in 1969.

On September 19, 1970, Joe married the former Amelia Lopez at St. John the Baptist Church in Duran.  Joe lived in Clovis, NM for 38 years, where he was a bricklayer.  He later worked for NM DOT, retiring in 2010.  Joe moved back to Duran in 1996 to help care for his mother.  A parishioner at St. John the Baptist Church, Joe was also a member of the St. Joseph Society.

In his spare time, Joe enjoyed cutting wood, caring for his yard, refurbishing furniture and making nichos.  However, Joe’s greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family and friends—and he particularly enjoyed and adored the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, wife: Amelia, son: Joseph Madril, daughter: Teresa Madril, granddaughter: Larissa Madril, and his siblings: Liberato Madril, Samuel Madril, Cornelia Madril, Diane Mirabal and Joan Chavez.

Joe is survived by his son: Andrew (Bernadette) Madril, son-in-law: Reidy Ingram, grandchildren: Angelina, Raven and Omarian, siblings: Albert (Cyndy) Madril, Pablo Madril, Johnny (Lucy) Madril, Tina (Richard) Archibeque, Berna (Grable) Encinias, Mary (Billy) Gonzales, Eloisa (Richard) Marez, Norma (Clario) Marez, brothers-in-law: Mike Mirabal and Margarito Chavez and sister-in-law: Andy Madril, as well as countless nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 10AM at St. John the Baptist Church in Duran, NM.

Interment of cremains will follow at the Duran Cemetery with Anthony Gonzales, Chris Madril and Chris Lopez serving as Urn Bearers.  Honorary Urn Bearers will include: Gilbert Chavez, Victor Gallegos, Eddie Padilla, Gerald Gauna, as well as Joe’s many friends.
