Joe Nick Chavez Jr.

Joe Nick Chavez Jr., 63 of Tucumcari, NM passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Dr. Dan Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari. He was born March 10, 1958 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Joe Nick and Peregina "Peachie" (Salazar) Chavez. Joe Nick grew up in Santa Rosa and Tucumcari where he attended schools. He married Rosa Bautista on September 7, 1980. In his free time, Joe Nick enjoyed listening to music, fishing, playing the guitar and spending quality time with his grandkids and family. He enjoyed the time spent with his brothers after work everyday. Joe Nick was loved by his family and will be missed and kept forever in their hearts until they meet again. Joe Nick Jr. is survived by his wife Maria Rosario Chavez of Tucumcari, a step son Juan Bautista and his wife Jennifer, two daughters Jo Nichole Chavez and Roxana Peachie Chavez, three sons Jose Nicacio Chavez III, Joel Chavez and his wife Leona, and Sergio Guadalupe Chavez, also surviving are 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Other survivors include three sisters Jo Ann Burke, Florence Edwards, and Nolita Barajas, and four brothers Fred Chavez, Richard Chavez, Frank Chavez, and Gregory Gillean Jr. A family visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 1pm to 2pm at the Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
