Jose "Joe" Rael

Jose “Joe” Rael, 75 of Montoya/New Kirk, NM passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Joe was born on June 22, 1946 in Cuervo, NM to Leopoldo Rael and Margarita (Guerrero) Rael. Joe was raised in Cuervo on the family homestead, where he also attended school. Joe was a rancher and cowboy all his life, also doing day work for various area ranches. Joe loved cowboying and was quite active in roping in the 70’s and 80’s. Joe is preceded in death by his parents and his brother; Leopoldo Rael, Jr. Joe is survived by the extended Riggs family, as well as many friends, and will be surely missed by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10am at the Cuervo Cemetery, on Cuervo Lane, with Steve Branch officiating.
