Kim Alan Hutchins

August 4, 1946 — March 29, 2022

Kim Alan Hutchins, "Hutch", was born on August 4, 1946. He met his Lord and Savior in what we can only imagine was a glorious reunion on March 29, 2022 at the age of 75. Hutch was raised on a farm in Broadview, New Mexico where his passion for Agriculture, hard work, and the start of countless stories began. He attended school in Grady, New Mexico where he loved FFA, basketball, baseball, and track. He began raising and showing sheep in high school where he won Grand Champion Open Division Ram at the New Mexico State Fair. Hutch graduated from New Mexico State University in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Economics. During this time, he met the love of his life, and married Dessie Lynn Asbill from Vaughn in 1968. Together they would have three children whom he cherished more than anything. Hutch farmed and ranched in Broadview from the time he could drive a tractor until moving to Los Lunas in 1981. His love of agriculture continued as he raised show lambs through the years, helping his daughters, grandchildren, and countless other 4-H/FFA members with their sheep projects. He was always eager to help with showing at County, State and National shows, teaching them how to shear, or being available for any questions - after all, he had ALL the answers. Hutch was a very talented writer and artist. His family will forever cherish the thoughtful, beautiful gifts he created for them throughout the years. He worked hard all his life, making it very important that when doing any task, it was done right. The love he shared for his wife, children and grandchildren was immeasurable. He loved to always be the one to make them laugh until they cried, made them puzzle at his brain teasers, or re-live a beautiful memory with his countless stories. He is once again reunited with his parents, Arnold and Bessie Hutchins, brother Lyle Hutchins, son Skye Hutchins, daughter Jodi Shaffner, and grandson Joryan Shaffner. Left to lovingly remember him are his wife of 53 years, Dessie Hutchins, sister Darlene Gerhart (husband Storm), sister Linda Barrow, sister Carolyn Reed (husband Steve), sister-in-law Rita Hutchins, brother-in-law Danny Asbill (wife Pat), Daughter Juli Thurston (husband Johnny), and grandchildren Jocelyn Mosley (husband Kollin), Jarryn Shaffner (fiancé Matilda Yatsco), Jacob Hutchins, Braden Thurston, Halee Fincher, John Thurston and Matthew Thurston. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Riverside Funeral Home, 820 Main Street, Los Lunas, NM. Burial services will be held at 5 p.m. April 6, 2022 at Ft. Sumner Cemetery, 1335 N. 17th St. Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Chavez Funeral Home is in charge of burial services.
