Luecious Xavior "Bubba" Lucero, 21 a resident of Melrose, New Mexico passed away in an auto accident near Kermit, Texas on Friday, February 20, 2026.
Visitation hours for family and friends will be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 27, 2026 at The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner, NM with Pastor Richard Terrell officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Antonio Lucero, Izaiah Padilla, Matthew Sperry, Kaden Shaw, Tate Hill, Dez Sanmiguel, Gauge England, and Angel Lopez. Honorary bearers will be Pete Lucero and Dominic Rodriguez.
Luecious was born May 28, 2004 in Clovis, New Mexico. He attended school in Melrose where he participated in school sports and was quarterback for the Buffalo football team. Bubba worked in the construction industry as a plumber for a few years. For the past 6 months he worked alongside his dad in the Sand Mines in Monahans, Texas.
Bubba enjoyed riding his dirt bike, taking trips on his Harley Davidson, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his family - bullying his sisters....
Luecious is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jim Teal, his paternal grandparents Alfredo and Martina Lucero, two great uncles Nick Lucero and Agapito Lucero.
Survivors include his fiance Domanique Gutierrez and a child expected in March of Clovis, his father Michael and wife Liz Lucero of Melrose, his mother Tonya Teal, four sisters Destiny Sanchez of Dallas, TX, Avette Sanchez of Melrose, Anjalina Joynes and husband Christopher of Albuquerque, Neia Lucero of Melrose, and one brother Angel Lopez of Melrose. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews Zara Rodriguez, Zhylah Rodriguez, Zuri Rodriguez, Cameron Joynes, and Elias Joynes. His paternal grandmother Mary Lucero of Fort Sumner, Jackie Teal of Fort Sumner, and Maricela and Lazaro Lopez of Melrose, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
