Lydia Griego Martinez

Lydia Griego Martinez, 82, a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa, NM passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa, NM. Lydia was born on February 28, 1940, in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Felix and Amalia (Duran) Griego. She grew up and attended school in Santa Rosa. A lifelong Catholic, Lydia was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Lydia worked as a waitress at various Santa Rosa restaurants, retiring from the Silver Moon Restaurant after many years. Lydia enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends, and enjoyed the companionship of her dogs and caring for them. Lydia is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Amalia Griego; sisters Herlinda Talbott and Gloria Griego; brothers Arturo and Danny Griego; brother-in-law Tony Lopez, and sister-in-law Terry Griego. She is survived by her daughter Olga Muniz (Joey); sons Jude and Greg Martinez; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Ida Lopez, Clorie Gallegos (Steve), and Nancy Gonzales (Chris). Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, January 2, 2023 from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa, NM. Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11AM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Lydia will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa with Robert Griego, Rick Griego, Raymond Griego, Bruce Muniz, Donte Vigil and David Lopez serving as Pallbearers.
